Timber Info

Wood is taken material out of a natural growing process. It is "raw"material taken from nature. Contrary to industrally manufactured materials it is not homogeneous, each piece of wood is unique. Experience here more over the natural characteristics of a timeless nature material. Apart from good physical properties, a relatively small weight and the usually easy workability, sometimes natural variations in grain, color, checking are to be expected. Knots of various sizes are also to be expected. These imperfections do not compromise the structural integrity of the climbing frames and swingsets.

wood checking
Checking
Checking is the appearance of cracks or splits in the wood as the wood dries out. Depending upon wood and location of the product(sunny or shady location) this can occur differently strongly and fade away again. According to DIN4074 suchs cracks are permissible because they do not affect the durability.
wood resin
Resin
Resin on the timber is not avoidable with resinous woods during warm weather or direct sun exposure. This characteristic can be strengthened by a dark, absorb-paint. Tip: Use a flat piece of wood and remove carefully the run out resin.
wood mould and blue
Mould and blue
The wood is well protected by the impregnation. With pressure impregnated wood however superficial damp stains and mould can develop during storage. The high residual moisture in the wood favours this. Usually the upper-laminar mould can be easily removed after the drying process. The optics adapts itself again after a short time.
wood curve or volume change
Volume change
A charasteristic behaviour of wood is the volume change by moisture absorption and/or drying process. Depending upon dampness of the material contruction units can differently "work". During the pressure impregnation the wood is fully satisfied. It exhibits therefore after drying process the largest shrinking.

wood raw surface
Raw surface
The surface of planed/milled woods can despite great care and sharp tools exhibit partial raw places. Especially on the knots.
wood saltflowering
Saltflowering
With pressure treated wood superficial white -greenish stains can occur.
It concerns thereby withdrawing resin mixed with the contents of the materials of the impregnation. The cuprous salts loosened in the impregnation oxidize at the surface to lightgreen marks and fade away after sometime.
wood colour
Colour & Shades
With impregnating the wood, some colour pigments are brought into the wood. The pigment behaviour is depending on the wood, the wood section, the humidity of the content and the temperature of the material. These differences fade away after sometime.

Grain
By the processing of the wood this grainconsisting of a porous fabric can become partly or completely visible. The grain is not damage to the wood, but the natural appearance of this material.
wood brances and grain
Branches  & Grain
Branches and grain belong to the characteristic of wood. In the production of garden products often wood with grain and branches is used.
